Sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society, the Vista BBQ Classic draws some of the country’s top award-winning barbecuers for one massive and awesome-smelling competition. The event unfolds in downtown Vista each summer, and here’s what you should know before trying the tasty samples available:
More than 40 teams will compete for $10,000 in cash and prizes. The best part: you can try all of their barbecue creations. Admission to the festival is free, so all you’ll need to buy are some tasting tickets.
Inside tip: arrive early. Many of the barbecue items won’t be available all day.
It’s not all about the food. Well, it kind of is. But there will also be lasso lessons, a VIP saloon experience with whiskey and cigars, breweries, shopping, a variety of musical acts including country, bluegrass, and mariachi, and more
