Though it’s certainly accurate, Bottineau Winter Park’s name is a bit deceiving. Nestled into the Turtle Mountains of Northern North Dakota, this non-profit park sprung to existence in the late 1960s in hopes of providing outdoor recreation opportunities to local youth.
Indeed, many of those activities are rooted in winter months, including snowmobiling, skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. But even when the snow melts, the park still bustles with action thanks to a slew of warm-weather adventures, from swimming and hiking to hunting, fishing, and boating. That assortment has helped the park earn—and live up to—its nickname as “The Jewel above the Prairie.”
