Hotel Royal Plaza was founded by Ashwani and Saroj Nagpal as place where out-of-town students could feel comfortable experiencing a new country. Waves Restaurant & Lounge, the hotel’s eatery, feeds both students and the general public with a menu that celebrates the Nagpals’ East Indian roots with butter chicken marinated overnight and beef paired with creamy curry sauce. Before baking naan, chefs stuff the doughy pockets with green chilies, cheese, cashew, and cherries. The kitchen also prepares pastas, pizzas, and club house sandwiches for a different taste. On select nights, live musicians play guitars, saxophones, and tin whistles for hours of foot-tapping tunes.
