Professional photographer and experienced photography teacher Jim Slobodian passes on his shutter-snapping expertise during all-day digital photography workshops. During the seven-hour session, up to 75 shutterbugs learn fundamentals of moment capturing including the use of shutter speed, aperture, and ISO, as well as how to use a flash properly and which exposure modes to use in which situation. The grin-capturing guru teaches students how to compose photographs and give each print depth, dimension, and the right balance of artistic flair and giant chicken suits. Participants also discover how to augment photography equipment with accessories, such as polarizing filters, tripods, and memory cards. Rounding out the class, the photo professor imparts a lesson on managing and editing digital photos. Pupils learn how to organize and catalogue photos as well as how to tell the difference between file types and colour spaces.
