Yoga North’s certified instructors fill the studio’s schedule with a variety of Iyengar yoga classes in four difficulty levels. During 90-minute Level I classes, bodies flex into 25 different yoga poses and learn how to twist limbs around various props including bands, blocks, chairs, and barber’s poles. Body-benders consult with teachers to determine when they are ready to move on to more advanced classes, such as Level II sessions, where students perform long shoulder-stands and headstands. Men’s classes focus specifically on male fitness, injury, and stress, and the seniors’ classes helps abate aches and pains with gentler poses geared toward students 65 and older. Sunlight and hanging lights illuminate the eco-friendly materials that comprise Yoga North’s studio, so yogis won’t mistake their instructors for tax collectors.
